Hutto is my new home town as of 7/09. This is a small community with lots of character.
The most famous being "Henrietta" the Hippo.
Hutto was officially declared the "Hippo Capital of Texas" in 2003. In part because there are over 100 hippo statues scattered throughout town.
According to local lore, the legendary Hutto Hippo escaped from a circus train and waddled through town in the early 1900s. It ended up in Brushy Creek near where Hutto High School stands today.
The city adopted the hippo as their mascot and a life sized stone one stands in front of the high school and many smaller ones can be seen all over town.
This series is intended to get you around town to see some of the more colorful specimens. Each cache is in two stages where the first hippo will give you the coordinates for the final.
There is no need to trample any vegetation in, on, or around any of the statues in order to get the coords or to retrieve the cache.
All stages are placed with permission, but please be respectful at all locations. If questioned by muggles as to what you are doing, be truthful and you should be ok.
The posted cache size is for the final, good luck on the redirectors. As always, be mindful of the local critters and flora.
