Geocache Description:

Note that the final container is resting near the remains of a previous container. Read the Hint below for messaging the CO if at first you think you have not found the Final.

Its not about the destination but the Journey. Sometimes the journey takes you to a great destination. This cache has a great journey, a great destination and a great story. . .

One fine mid-summer sunny day, Thing One and Thing Two decided to walk the high point of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. To get there they had to first go downhill and then up to the high point on the bridge. They didn't get too far out when Thing One started to feel a bit nervous about the height, and decided to remain as Thing Two ventured a bit further until turning back so as not to desert Thing One.

Enjoying the last days of Summer, Thing Two was eager to have a go at the bridge—when a traveling cache was placed there—and get some mileage and feel the wind and sea-spray at the top of the bridge.

At the last moment, Thing One sprinted across the lawn to join Thing Two saying "I can do it! I WILL do it!"

During the mile long journey to the center of the bridge, Thing One tried to keep focused on the the prize, not the height.

They found such a great view at GZ that they almost forgot about the cache. Almost but not quite. Thing one saw it first and made the grab!

"I conquered my fear AND found the cache!"

Thing One had a fear of heights but when a cache was placed on the bridge, he conquered his fears and made the find.

The closest parking on the Tacoma side is at the Park and Ride at the War Memorial Park off Sixth Avenue.

The closest parking on the Gig Harbor side is along Stone Dr NW, but there is trail parking further up the trail.

  • The bridge tends to get windy—Secure your hat, GPS, camera . . .

  • Stick to one side of the walkway and walk (or ride your bicycle) in single file. Do NOT cross over to the other side of the walkway without checking behind you for bike traffic. They are quiet and fast.

  • The distance to walk could be up to four miles.

  • As soon as you collect all the data from your waypoints, enter into GPS to determine what side of the bridge the cache is located BEFORE walking back to your parking spot.

  • You can NOT access the information from the highway. You need to walk the Cushman Trail.

  • The Terrain's rating is due to length of trail and incline but it is a paved trail all the way.

  • No toll to walk the bridge

This cache is placed on public property to blend in with the environment in such a way as not to be noticed by muggles and not to damage property by geocachers.

The cache is not at the posted coordinates! Walk the bridge collecting data along the way. Read the description of each Additional Waypoint below to see where and what you are looking for!

The cache is located at N47° 1A.BCD W122° 3E.FGH
