Activities
Chili Feed & Potluck - The WGA will be making a large
quantity of chili. (This will be "normal" chili with meat in it.
Nothing super hot, spicy, or exotic.) We will also have hot
beverages (coffee, cocoa, and tea), water, and will provide all
necessary tableware (plates, cups, plasticware). We are asking
participants to bring a dish to pass / share based on the first
letter of their last name as follows:
- Last name A-H: salad, fruit, and/or vegetables
- Last name I-P: chips, pretzels, and/or snacks
- Last name Q-Z: dessert or cookies
Or if you have a unique chili recipe you want to share, you may
bring a pot of chili instead of a normal dish to pass.
To cover the cost of providing the chili and other food,
attendees are being asked to pay $2 for adults and teens and $1 for
children 12 and under. These fees will NOT be refunded if you do
not attend the event.
The chili will be available starting around 12:30pm until the
event ends at 6. So come for lunch or dinner or both!
Bonfire - We expect most of the participants will hang
around outside at our large bonfire. Some benches will be available
for sitting around the fire, but you may want to bring your own
lawn chairs.
Walking Tour / Multicache - There will be a walking tour
in the form of a temporary multicache that will take you around the
field station property.
Permanent Geocaches - As always, hunting permanent caches
in the local area is encouraged. There is one cache within walking
distance of the station, and 50+ within 5 miles. Cross-country ski
and snowshoe trails and numerous geocaches are available at the
nearby Lapham Peak State park.
Meet The 2010 WGA Board - Newly elected members of the
WGA Board of Directors will be announced in mid-February, and we
expect most or all of them to be at the event. If you have any
ideas / suggestions for the organization, this would be a good time
to share them... the Board will having their annual "kickoff"
meeting the next day.
Attendance Limit
Registration Is Now
Closed
(the 100 person limit was reached on 2/1/2010)
Note that attendance is limited to the
first 100 people who register and pay. This limit is
necessary due to the size of the shelter building and quantity of
parking available. No unregistered geocachers will be permitted on
the property.
Rules
- No unregistered attendees
- Attendees must pay fees in advance
- Alcoholic beverages ARE permitted (you can bring your own adult
beverages, but not any to share)
- Park only in designated areas or off to the side along entrance
road
- No dogs or other pets allowed on property
The WGA asks that this event be logged only once. The
practice of multiple logging of temp caches is no longer condoned
by the WGA or considered to be a good practice by much of the
geocaching community.
Note: WGA membership is not required to attend this
event. It is open to all who geocache. We do ask though that
you use the linked registration form above to register though. This
allows us to more accurately track attendance and chili feed
payments made in our online store. If you are not a registered on
our website, you will be asked to create a WGA friend account.
