Das Klein Matterhorn liegt auf 3883m/12739ft. Das Klein Matterhorn ist die höchste Aussichtsplattform Europas, keine Seilbahn bringt die Touristen auf einen höheren Punkt. Auf der ersten Seite des Logbuch befindet sich der Code vom Coin zum discovern.
Das Klein Matterhorn (3883m 12739ft) ist der kleine Bruder vom berühmten Matterhorn, das kleine Matterhorn liegt zwischen den beiden Viertausendern Matterhorn und dem Breithorn. Es ist die höchste Aussichtsplattform Europas, keine Seilbahn bringt die Touristen auf einen höheren Punkt. Die Aussicht ist atemberaubend, man fühlt sich in einer anderen, kalten aber sehr viel klareren Umwelt. Von Zermatt (1620m) fährt man mit dem Gletscher Express nach Furi, danach steigt man in die Grossgondel um und gelangt zum Trockenen Steg auf 2939 m, dann startet man mit der Luftseilbahn zum Klein Matterhorn (3820m). Angekommen, in der "unterirdischen" Gipfelstation geht man einen 60 m langen Tunnel vom Nordhand zum Südhang. In der Mitte des Tunnels bietet sich die Möglichkeit, mit dem Lift ca. 50m in die Höhe zu fahren, zum "Dach Europas", hier angekommen, befinden sie sich auf der höchsten Aussichtsplattform Europas (3883m). Hier eröffnet sich für den Besucher ein sensationeller 360° Panoramafernblick. Das Klein Matterhorn gilt als größtes und höchstes Skigebiet in der Schweiz, es bildet den Ausganspunkt für die Pistenabfahrt auf dem Theodulgletscher Richtung Testa Griglia, Furggsattel, Trockener Steg, bis Furgg und Schwarzsee. In unmittelbarer Nähe befindet sich der Gletscherpalast. Im höchstgelegenen Gletscher-Palast der Welt rund fünfzehn Meter unter der Gletscheroberfläche kann auf eindrückliche Weise der Gletscher mit seinen Spalten erforscht werden. Diskrete Beleuchtung und sphärische Klänge begleiten durch ein kleines Wunder der Gletscherwelt. Informationen über die Entstehung des Gletscher-Palastes, Glaziologie und Wein sowie imposante aus Eis gemeisselte Skulpturen bieten ein Erlebnis der besonderen Art. Der Eintritt ist frei. Der Gletscher-Palast ist täglich geöffnet von 9:00 bis 15:45 Uhr. Neu ab 2009 ist das Restaurant am Ende des Tunnels. The peak is at 12730 ft with the cable car terminal at 3820m. The Klein Matterhorn is at the end of a multi-stage cable car journey from Zermatt. The carriages were refurbished in 2005. There is also a panoramic view platform at 12730 ft, which can be reached by elevator—located midway through the tunnel—followed by a 10 m climb up stairs. The Ice Cave ("Glacier Grotto") is just outside the tram station with a view into the glacier below. The station is a high-alpine environment, and in the thin air one must use caution when making any physical effort. If possible, take time to climatise on the way to the Klein Matterhorn. There are plenty of warnings about this on the way up. The lift serves the largest summer-ski area in the alps. During summer months one can find many professional, as well as beginning skiers, here. Access to the ski slopes is via a tunnel blasted straight through the mountain. The highest glacier palace is nearly. The world's highest glacier palace, approximately 15 metres under the surface of the glacier, and the various glacial splits and gaps, can all be explored in amazement. Discrete lighting and spherical sounds accompany this small wonder of the glacial world. Information about the creation of the palace, glaciology and wine, and the fascinating sculpture skilfully honed from the ice all add up to a very special experience. Admission is free.
