Geocache Description:

State park sticker required ... Park hours are 6am to 11pm ... Cache available up to 2 inches of snow; Not recommend on days with big waves on Lake Michigan; Dogs are NOT allowed right at the cache location, but are welcome just south of the cache location. Closest Parking: N43 29.793 W87 47.706

This cache is located near the very distinct point, where the beach protrudes out into Lake Michigan. This location is where from 1902 to 1925, the Lake Shore Stone Company loaded their two steamships, the Hennepin and the Topeka, with crushed limestone. A system of tracks and piers were used to bring carts full of stone from the quarry about 1000 feet west of this location. Today "the point" separates the beach into the north beach and the south beach ... dogs are allowed on the south beach, but not on the north beach. Those with their 4-legged friends will find a nice picnic area designated for those with pets, just south of "the point".
