An der Kreuzung Subbelrather Straße / Innere Kanalstraße befindet sich ein einzelnes, mehrgeschossiges Wohnhaus. Es war offenbar geplant, die Häuserreihe Richtung Osten fortzusetzen, dazu ist es aber nie gekommen. So ist die Fassade des Hauses Richtung Osten nun komplett fensterlos und kahl.

Um diese ungenutzte Fläche zu verschönern, haben Straßenkünstler die Wand mit einem etwa 15 Meter hohen Gemälde versehen. Es trägt den Titel "Die Drei Affen" und zeigt die sprichwörtlichen drei Affen, von denen einer nichts sieht, einer nichts hört, und der Dritte nichts sagt. Diese ursprünglich aus dem fernen Osten überlieferte Redewendung steht hierzulande für Ignoranz.

Zugleich handelt es sich bei dem Kunstwerk aber auch um eine Abwandlung des Kölner Stadtwappens: Der Aufbau und die Farben sind gleich, aber die drei Kronen im oberen Teil des Wappens sind durch die drei Affen ersetzt, die 11 Tränen im unteren Teil durch verschiedene Bananen-Abbildungen. Des weiteren wurden die Affen an die Kölsche Thematik angepasst, indem sie karnevalstypische Narrenkappen aufgesetzt bekommen haben.
At the intersection Subbelrather Straße / Innere Kanalstraße is a single, multi-storey residential building. It was apparently planned to continue the row of houses to the east, but this never happened. So the facade of the house to the east is now completely windowless and bare.

In order to beautify this unused area, street artists have provided the wall with a painting about 15 meters high. It bears the title "Die Drei Affen" (i.e. "The Three Monkeys") and shows the proverbial three monkeys, one of whom sees nothing, one hears nothing, and the third says nothing. Originally from the Far East, this phrase represents ignorance round here.

In addition, the artwork is also a modification of the Cologne coat of arms: The structure and colors are the same, but the three crowns in the upper part of the coat of arms are replaced by the three monkeys, the 11 tears in the lower part by different banana illustrations. Furthermore, the monkeys were adapted to the Cologne theme, by having Carnival-typical caps put on.
