Sie wurde im traditionellen Stil der Holzkirchen aus der Region Maramures in Rumänien konstruiert, anschließend aufgebaut, wieder zerlegt und dann mit drei Lastwagen nach Bonn transportiert, um sie am endgültigen Standort an der Rheinpromenade aufzustellen: Das neue Gotteshaus der rumänisch-orthodoxen Kirchengemeinde „Die Heiligen Stefan, Cassius und Florentius“ ist in vielerlei Hinsicht ein außergewöhnliches Gebäude." „Von Anfang an war klar, dass eine Holzkirche errichtet wird“, erinnert sich [Pfarrer] Preda. Die Gotteshäuser aus Maramures seien ein nationales und internationales Kulturerbe. „Acht von ihnen hat die UNESCO zum Weltkulturerbe erklärt.“ Für den Bau wird nach Angaben des Pfarrers nur das Holz von Eichen und Tannen verwendet. „Viele Teile werden verzapft, nur im Dachbereich wird Metall in Form von Nägeln eingesetzt.“ Aufgebaut wurde das verschindelte Gotteshaus von eigens aus Rumänien angereisten Handwerkern und ehrenamtlichen Helfern der Kirchengemeinde."

The churches from Maramures are a national and international cultural heritage. „UNESCO has explained eight of them to the world cultural heritage.“ For the construction only the wood of oaks and firs is used according to the priest. „Many parts are served on draught, only in the roof area metal is used in the form of nails. “The church was built up by craftsmen who specially arrived from Romania and honourary assistants of the church municipality."
