Die Namen-Jesu-Kirche ist seit 1694 für verschiedenste Konfessionen ein Ort der Andacht, religiöser Feiern und Gottesdienste mit einer bewegten Geschichte:
- 1686-1717: Bau der Namen-Jesu-Kirche im Auftrag des Kölner Kurfürsten und Erzbischofs Maximilian Heinrich von Bayern für die Bonner Jesuiten. Unterbrochen durch den Pfälzischen Erbfolgkrieg und die Vertreibung der Jesuiten aus der Stadt.
- 1694-1774: Nutzung als Jesuitenkirche bis zum Weggang der Jesuiten.
- 1774-1876: Leerstand; zeitweise Nutzung als Pferdestall und Soldatenunterkunft in der Franzosenzeit.
- 1876-1934: Nutzung durch die alt-katholische Gemeinde als Pfarrkirche.
- bis 1957: Wiederaufbau nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg.
- 1950-2007: Nutzung durch das Erzbistum Köln, u.a. für Gottesdienste der katholischen Hochschulgemeinde.
- 2006-2012: Sanierung durch das Land Nordrhein-Westfalen.
- seit 2012: Nutzung durch die Stiftung Namen-Jesu-Kirche als Kathedrale für alt-katholische Gottesdienste.
Die bis heute fast vollständig erhaltene Fassade ist ein bedeutsames Zeugnis des sogenannten Jesuiten-Barocks. Im Innern dominieren dagegen die blau-golden verzierten Deckengewölbe und Säulen, der aufwändig gestaltete barocke Hochaltar sowie die ebenfalls barocke Kanzel mit einer Figur des Erzengels Michael. Unter der Kirche befindet sich eine Gruft mit 66 Jesuiten-Gräbern. Sie wird heute noch für Urnen-Bestattungen genutzt.

The church "Namen-Jesu-Kirche" is a place of worship, religious ceremonies and services since 1694 for various denominations. It's eventful history includes:
- 1686-1717: Construction of the church on behalf of the elector of Cologne and archbishop Maximilian Heinrich von Bayern for the Jesuits in Bonn. Interrupted by the Palatinate war of succession and the expulsion of the Jesuits from town.
- 1694-1774: Use as Jesuit church until departure of the Jesuits.
- 1774-1876: Vacancy; temporarily used as horse stable and soldiers' quarters during the "Franzosenzeit".
- 1876-1934: Use by the Old Catholic community as parish church.
- until 1957: Reconstruction after World War II.
- 1950-2007: Use by the archdiocese of Cologne, among others for services of the Catholic university community.
- 2006-2012: Refurbishment by the state Northrhine-Westphalia.
- since 2012: Use by the non-profit organization "Stiftung Namen-Jesu-Kirche" as cathedral for Old Catholic services.
The nearly completely preserved facade is an important example of the so-called Jesuit baroque. On the other hand, the interior is dominated by the blue-golden colored arch ceiling and columns, the exquisitely decorated baroque high altar, and the baroque pulpit with a statue of archangel Michael. Below the curch is a crypt with 66 Jesuit graves. It is still being used today for the burial of urns.
