 La chapelle du Schaefertal
Dans une magnifique clairière qui invite à la méditation, on découvre la chapelle du Schaefertal « Val du Pâtre ». Les habitants des villages environnants y venaient en procession et les nobles de la vallée en firent un lieu privilégié pour leurs cérémonies. La chapelle fut érigée à l'endroit où la Vierge Marie serait venue en aide à un berger lors d'une sécheresse qui menaçait son troupeau. Devant le porche, on voit encore couler la source miraculeuse. Depuis 1272, on fait mention des eaux bienfaisantes de Soultzmatt et la Lisbeth, la plus réputée d'entre elles, est aujourd'hui encore embouteillée dans la vallée. A l'intérieur de la chapelle, on découvre la statue de la Vierge à l'Enfant d'époque Renaissance, un tableau racontant l'histoire miraculeuse, et la charte commémorant la reconsécration de la chapelle par l'évêque de Bâle en 1511.

 Schaefertal chapel
On a beautiful glade, which invites you to meditate, we discover the Schaefertalkapelle (chapel of the shepherd valley). In former times, entire processions from the surrounding villages came to the chapel and it was the favourite place of the nobility of the valley for their religious ceremonies. It is said that the chapel was built in this place because here the Blessed Virgin Mary helped a shepherd: She caused a spring of water to occur when a dangerous drought threatened his herd. The miraculous spring is still flowing directly in front of chapel porch. The beneficial value of the Soultzmatt springs has been mentioned since 1272. Water of the most famous one, the Lisbeth spring, is still bottled in the valley today. The chapel gives prominence to a Renaissance statue of the Virgin Mary holding the child, a painting depicting the story of the miraculous spring and a charter of the reconsecration of the chapel by the Bishop of Basle in 1511.

 Die Schaefertalkapelle
Auf einer wunderschönen Waldwiese, die zur Meditation einlädt, steht die Schaefertalkapelle. In früheren Zeiten kamen aus den umliegenden Dörfern ganze Prozessionen zur Kapelle und die Adligen vom Tal erwählten sie zum Lieblingsort für ihre religiösen Zeremonien. Man erzählt sich, dass die Kapelle an diesem Ort errichtet wurde, weil die Heilige Jungfrau hier einem Schäfer zur Hilfe kam: Sie ließ eine Quelle entspringen, als eine gefährliche Dürre seine Herde bedrohte. Diese Wunderquelle fließt heute noch direkt vor dem Kapellentor. Seit 1272 ist deshalb von den wohltuenden Wirkungen der Soultzmatter Quellen die Rede: Die berühmteste, die Lisbeth-Quelle, wird heute noch im Tal in Flaschen abgefüllt. In der Kapelle befinden sich die Statue der Jungfrau mit dem Kind aus der Renaissance, ein Gemälde über die Geschichte der Wunderquelle und eine Charta zur erneuten Konsekration der Kapelle durch den Bischof von Basel im Jahre 1511.
