The Heilig Hartkerk was designed by Alfred Tepe, a student of Pierre Cuypers, and intiated in 1885.
There are three bells in the tower, the largest has a weight of 1200 kg.
The carillon dates from 1979 and is donated by citizens and businesses to the municipality of Maarssen.
The church is a Dutch national heritage site (Rijksmonument).
Every sunday at 10 o'clock a eucharistic celebration occurs in the church.
