Pitner Park was established in the 1930's and named for James A. Pitner who was instrumental in the planning and care of the park. The park contains open grassy areas, trees, several play areas as well as a nearby museum and
historical marker.
The text on the dedication plaque reads
PITNER PARK
Established in the 1930's and named on 8-9-1950
by the Village Board of Stratton, Nebraska in
honor of
JAMES A. PITNER
8-28-1882 - 7-27-1950
A member of the Park Board since it's [sic] beginning.
He had a great part in planning, planting, and
care of the park.
