This benchmark was located on the water tank at the Colorado State Soldiers and Sailors Home (now Colorado State Veterans Center at Homelake). The center is the oldest of its kind in the state and still cares for retired and disabled veterans today.

The benchmark was first officially observed in 1935 by the Coast and Geodetic Survey. The tank has since been destroyed and the only remaining evidence is a steel pipe at ground level.
