This church has been originally built in 13th century as a Dominican monastery. The coat of arms copies the basic Dominican coat of arms: "a parted black mantel of the habit on a white field" and there are other symbols added: a palm twig, a lily and a dog - see the legend of St. Dominic about the dog carrying a torch.
