Der "Hölzerne Mann" ist eine Holzskulptur mitten im Wald zwischen Metternich und Weilerswist. Sie wurde 1996 vom Holzbildhauer Josef Cader geschaffen und der Gemeinde Bornheim geschenkt. Sie ist als Gegenstück zu der Eisenskulptur "Eiserner Mann" gedacht, die ebenfalls im Wald gut 8 Kilometer südöstlich steht. Die Skulptur steht an einer Wanderwegkreuzung und ist eine lokale Sehenswürdigkeit.

Gegenüber des Hölzernen Mannes steht eine Schutzhütte, die Wanderer zu einer Rast einlädt oder bei schlechtem Wetter Schutz bietet. Die Vorderseite ist offen gestaltet, im Giebel ist eine Holzschnitzerei angebracht, die eine Wildschweinrotte darstellt. Im Innern der Hütte ist das auffälligste Element der aus einem massiven Holzblock gefertigte Tisch. Darum ist eine lange, durchgehende Bank installiert.
"Hölzerne Mann" (translating to "Wooden Man") is a wooden sculpture in the middle of the forest between Metternich and Weilerswist. It was created in 1996 by the wood sculptor Josef Cader and donated to the municipality of Bornheim. It is intended as a counterpart to the iron sculpture "Eiserner Mann" ("Iron Man"), which is also in the forest a good 8 kilometers to the south-east. The sculpture stands at a trail crossing and is a local attraction.

Opposite the sculpture is a shelter that invites hikers to take a rest or offers protection in bad weather. The front is open, in the gable there is a wood carving depicting a herd of wild boar. Inside the hut, the most striking element is the table, made from a solid block of wood. A long, continuous bench is installed around it.
