Am Marktplatz von Lechenich steht ein auffälliges Backsteinwohnhaus. Es wird in der Liste der Baudenkmäler als "Haus Kretz" geführt, vermutlich aufgrund der früheren Bewohner oder Erbauer des Hauses. Das kleine Sträßchen rechtes neben dem Gebäude trägt ebenfalls den Namen "Johannes-Kretz-Straße".

Das Haus wurde 1862 gebaut, ein Grundstein mit dieser Jahresangabe wurde im Mauerwerk über dem Torbogen verbaut, durch den der Innenhof erreichbar ist. Architekt war Friedrich von Schmidt, späterer Wiener Dombaumeister. Die Fassade ist vom neugotischen Stil geprägt und von schmalen, hohen Fenstern dominiert, zwischen den Fenstern wurden Verzierungen aus Werkstein angebracht. Oberhalb des Eingangs befindet sich ein Balkon, darüber auf dem Dach eine Kreuzblume.

Seit 1982 steht das Gebäude unter Denkmalschutz und macht bis heute einen sehr gepflegten Eindruck.
There is a striking residential brick house on the marketplace of Lechenich. It is listed in the list of monuments as "Haus Kretz", presumably because of the former residents or builders of the house. The little street on the right next to the building is also called "Johannes-Kretz-Strasse".

The house was built in 1862, a cornerstone with this date was built into the masonry over the archway through which the courtyard can be reached. The architect was Friedrich von Schmidt, who later became the cathedral master builder of Vienna. The facade is characterized by the neo-Gothic style and dominated by narrow, high windows, between the windows decorations made of stone are attached. There is a balcony above the entrance and a finial above on the rooftop.

The building has been a listed building since 1982 and makes a well-tended impression.
