Gravity's Rainbow the Balloon has a single mission: FUN! But it is also a Travel Bug, so it will be "placed in" caches near where it flies and will be discovered by visitors and passengers! Otherwise it will remain in the possession of the owners.

About This Item

Gravity's Rainbow

We've seen some rather huge mobile objects that have been turned into travel bugs, including cars, trucks and even boats. But as far as we know no actual hot air balloon has been turned into a travel bug. Oh yes, there are many geocoins shaped like hot air balloons, and small TB's representing balloons in various miniature forms. We own one of these, a "proxy" of Gravity's Rainbow. But THIS TB is the genuine item...a real hot air balloon, a Head AX8-88. The tag will be found on a lanyard hanging inside the balloon's basket. The easiest way to discover it is to check this page for Gravity's Rainbow's schedule and visit it at events or, when it's not on the road, at home in Carriere, Mississippi. You may even luck into a flight!

May 8-9: SURPRISE VISIT to OWA in Foley, Alabama!

Otherwise at home or flying in the neighborhood.

Note: Gravity’s Rainbow has been sold to a very good friend who, unfortunately, is not a geocacher. I will inform him of the tracking number and will do my best to keep track of GR’s location. However, there’s a good possibility that my friend will move GR to the Monterey, California area. He may even change her name. I’ll do my best. Presently she’s in his barn in Diamondhead, Mississippi. It’s been a terrific 24 years flying Gravity’s Rainbow around. I will miss her.
