Artists’ Statement

The 10 Year Volunteer Anniversary Geocoin was designed to symbolize Geocaching HQ’s appreciation for the community volunteers.

The design was inspired by ancient European and Chinese coins. The antique finish of this coin brings out the natural beauty of its details.

Both faces have been decorated with elements that symbolize the community volunteers’ contribution to the game:

  • A Roman numeral “X” and a diamond for the 10 year anniversary
  • Dill for protection against evil
  • Chamomile flowers for patience
  • A compass for direction — we’d be lost without you!
  • A traditional cache for love of the game
  • A brick for a strong foundation
  • Branches of sage for wisdom

This geocoin was designed by Nathan Cavanaugh and Roxxy Goetz at Geocaching HQ in Seattle, Washington.

Compubaer war in der Lage, mir diese zu beschaffen und ich habe im Tausch etwas anderes Schönes in Richtung polnische Grenze geschickt! Diese Coin gibt’s für die Volunteer Reviewer für ihre 10-jährige ehrenamtliche Tätigkeit für die Community! Danke auch an Anhalto, der bereit war, diese tolle Coin für meine Sammlung abzugeben!

…yes – the next Volunteer-present-coin for my ongoing collection! Compubaer was able to get one for me and we both made some trades for it that I’ve sent close to Polish border! This coin is an award for 10-year anniversary of working for the community! Also a big thank you to Anhalto, who was willing to set this coin free to add it to my collection!

Je mehr großartige Coins ich in deiner Sammlung entdecke, desto größer wird der Wunsch, mir ebenfalls ein paar dieser Herzstücke zu gönnen. Auch unter der Gruppe „Groundspeak Volunteer Awards and Presents“ durfte ich einige tolle Stücke und Besonderheiten entdecken (u. a. Flaschenöffner und Karabiner) und lesen.

Die Geschichte mit der urigen Kneipe in London fand ich köstlich. Und natürlich hast du bei einer dieser Coins auch die Gravur des Codes nachholen lassen. Das hätte ich an deiner Stelle auch getan.

Die Grundwerte erfülle ich auch beim Discovern (leidenschaftlich/authentisch/effektiv). Immerhin hat mir das weitere faszinierende Codes gebracht.

Ich hatte die Gelegenheit mir die TB und GC Sammlung von mel-whv anzusehen Danke für das teilen und die Erklärung um welchen TB / Coin es sich handelt. Ich freue mich für die Erlaubnis deine beeindruckende Sammlung die Du mit viel Leidenschaft aufgebaut hast zu discovern. Diese Sammlung hat es wirklich in sich, da steckt viel Zeit drin und es sind richtige Schmuckstücke dabei. Es wird Wochen dauern bis ich alle in Ruhe bewundert habe. Ich bin begeistert.
