Der Ursprungsort dieses Travelbugs, die Stadt Schweinfurt, ist weltweit als die "Kugellagerstadt" bekannt, weil zwei der größten Wälzlagerproduzenten hier beheimatet sind und von hier aus das industriell gefertigte Wälzlager die Welt erobert hat. Dieser Travelbug ist ein 3D-gedrucktes Wälzlager und zeigt, wie sich heute schon jeder selbst die verschiedensten, früher nur industriell herstellbaren, Teile selbst drucken kann.

The origin of this travel bug, the city of Schweinfurt in Germany, is known world wide as "ball bearing city" as it is home to two of the biggest ball and rolling bearing manufacturers in the world and from here, the mass-produced ball bearing has conquered the world. This Travelbug is a 3D printed rolling bearing and shows how already today, everybody can print parts which had to be industrially manufactured in the past.

We took this one out of the cache near the waters of Loch Lomond on our vacation.

We're going to keep this one a little while, in October we will be travelling to a (for you) unknown destinantion where we will drop it.
