About This Item

Front

Red, orange, amber, white glass on metal, foggy copper finish. LE - 50 made.

Sidereal is a Latin word meaning "starry". Cydra (pronounced Sidra) was named after the stars and she was definitely full of fire. All of the colors are borosilicate glass. This coin is made of solid copper and unlike other geocoins, the copper color is not plating, so it will never wear off.

The Cydra coin was designed by Gregson Vaux but every effort was made to make the coin as much Cydra's as possible. It includes the images, symbols, and concepts that were important to her. She dedicated much of her life and artistic effort to promote the sacred feminine. She believed that viewing God as only male is unbalanced and ultimately unsatisfying. Hopefully this coin will be a tangible object that can help those who knew and loved her remember her. Based on Cydra's words and writings, it would probably be more important to her that we remember that all of us, male and female, were made in God's divine image.
