About This Item

This Geocoin is made by the national organisation of Jamboree On The Air and Jamboree On The Internet (JOTA-JOTI) of the Netherlands.

The JOTA-JOTI is an annual event, held every 3th full weekend of October. It will take part in all countries where scouting is. During JOTA, Ham-radio amateurs will join scouting groups to make contact with other scouts around the globe. During JOTI Scouts will use the internet to meet new friends in Scouting.

The name Jamboree comes from the Swahili word Jambo, that meens someting like Hello when meeting someone. The name Jamboree is made up by Sir Robert Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, as the name for a big event where scouts meet other scouts. This can be for example in a national jamboree, continental like the European Jamboree or even the World Scout Jamboree. The JOTA-JOTI is an event that makes contact on long distance possible.

So many beautiful coins, started to log them one by one but this collection is so impressive that I will watch them one by one but log them all at once from here... Met you on my Friday the 13th event (is there a coin for that? ;-), considering there is one for many special dates there will be one for sure somewhere) in Vlissingen the Netherlands... Long after the event was over we were still there together with Marsso talking about many stuff among which the Corona Virus but also our hobby Geocaching and then you offered to share your coin collection with us.. So honoured that you would show it to us, love to watch them all, some of them never seen before and others that look familiar... Discovered this fine coin in the hands of its Owner -- along with many other treasures hidden inside his "muntenbakje" -- at a an impromptu coin discovery session after a nice stroll through Curacao's Boca Sami salt pond area. Posting some pictures for the web gallery, thanks so much for sharing and for the fun hike earlier that day!

Na de verrassingsavond voor team Semy alle mogelijke TB's die we in huize Semy ook maar konden vinden, even voorbij laten komen. Toch nog snel kunnen fotograveren voor ze op reis gaan naar het verre Zuide.
