Current Goal

2013. The year of the Hawk.

Weehawk is the biggest little Seattle Seahawks fan and his goal (as is the Seahawks) is to make it to Super Bowl XLVIII in New York on February 2, 2014. We hope to get pictures of Weehawk at the game.

GO HAWKS!

Secondary Goal: Visit the "Weehawken" neighborhood just east of Met Life Stadium before making his way back home to Seattle.

About This Item

Mission Accomplished!

Weehawk's Big Adventure

Our family are die-hard 12’s. Both of our boys left the hospital in Seahawks garb when they were born. They both have Russell Wilson jerseys and our house has the 12 flag flying every Sunday. We thought we would share our love of the Seahawks by making a Seahawks-themed travel bug. We bought the smallest Seahawks figurine we could find. He was aptly named Weehawk due to his diminutive stature.

On August 17, 2013, we sent Weehawk on his journey to Super Bowl XLVIII in New York. He was placed in a cache location in Federal Way, WA in hopes of eventually finding his way to the big game where he would meet the team. Interestingly, August 17th was the day the Hawks played the Denver Broncos in preseason action!

We had high hopes that Weehawk would work his way across the country but figured it would be a long shot, at best, for him to make it through hostile territory since a lot of “enemy” NFL team fans live between us and New York.

The very next day, a man traveling to Washington from Virginia just happened to pick up Weehawk and his magical journey began. The traveler took Weehawk on a cross country journey through 18 states and dropped him off at the Hatfield-McCoy Geotrail event in Kentucky!

By September 27th, Weehawk had landed in Rochester, New York. We were getting excited that this was an omen; that the Seahawks would roll to New York as well!

There was not much action from Weehawk until he was picked up on December 14th by a mean spirited person, most likely a Giants fan. You see, the Seahawks trounced the New York Giants on December 15th by a score of 23-0. Within a few weeks, Weehawk had been taken to Hawaii and dropped off with a comment attached, “will move this along…” This person dropped Weehawk off on December 27th!

The spirit of the 12’s is infectious and no amount of evil doing was going to prevent the Hawks from achieving their goal, a trip to Met Life Stadium for the Super Bowl! This is where the story gets good…

On December 27th, Weehawk was picked up in Hawaii and the following message was sent: “Well, I guess the little one had his vacation in Hawaii -- quite far from its goal. Luckily, I am in a position to help it along towards its destination, with however quite a big detour.”

That detour was quite big, indeed! Weehawk visited Bali, Indonesia! What makes this detour special was that he visited a school for handicapped children. This is the type of place that Russell Wilson would be found visiting! For those who don't know, Russell Wilson visits Seattle Children's Hospital every Tuesday! Even though the odds of Weehawk returning to New York were seemingly insurmountable, we had every expectation that he would succeed, just like our beloved Seattle Seahawks journey through the playoffs.

After a short vacation in Indonesia and back to Hawaii, Weehawk landed in Providence, Rhode Island on January 17th. He was then taken to New York City on January 19th and dropped off a mere 15.8 miles from Met Life Stadium! Coincidentally, this was the same day that the Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers for the right to go to the Super Bowl!

So, after a 26,000 mile journey, Weehawk rested for over a week in Van Cortlandt Park. He was found on Saturday by Bogey53, a Seahawks fan who attended the game! Thanks Bogey53!!

The Seahawks capped off a magical season by winning Super Bowl XLVIII in convincing fashion. On behalf of the Swanson family, we would like to thank you all for your support and well wishes! The story of Weehawk's adventures will be told in our family for years to come!
