About This Item

Patient # 40 - Zoe

Meet Zoe, a zombie who has become patient number 40 in our study of the propagation of the zombie plague via geocaching.  Zoe was a barrista in a coffee house in Seattle, while working on her undergraduate studies at the University of Washington.  Ironically, she majored in Medical Anthropology and Global Health.  An attractive young African American woman, she drove a Cube, played Go, and was really, really, really into Star Trek.  This may have been because she bore more than a passing resemblance to Nichelle Nichols, who played Lt. Nyota Uhura on the Star Trek TV show.  Zoe also very much enjoyed earth caches and drive-through restaurants.

We believe Zoe contracted the zombie plague from Patient # 21 - Boris.  We know that Zoe attended Comicon and Star Trek conventions in San Diego, where she is likely to have met him.  There is some evidence that they geocached together in the San Diego area following a particularly exciting Star Trek convention where they got to meet William Shatner.

This travel bug is part of a larger study to take a closer look at how the zombie plague might propagate if the primary vector for spreading the disease was geocaching.  Please visit the following website for further details, and a visualization of how the disease has propagated thus far based on the movement and discovery of this and other infected Zombie travel bugs:
