The birthplace of the Gießerei-Taler is a relic of the industrial past. So he sets out now to visit other relics of past times: On his way from cache to cache he wants to visit as many Lost Places as possible.
This Gießerei-Taler was created during the Museum Night 2011 in the old metal foundry of the Kiel shipyard of Georg Howaldt (formerly:HDW; Today: TKMS).
Built in 1884 at the Schwentine estuary, this metal foundry is the oldest surviving piece of evidence for the shipyard industry on the eastern shore of the Kiel Fjord.
It is also the oldest authentic industrial building in the area of Kiel.
In the metal foundry items like portholes, control panels, valves, levers and fittings, and parts of the technology and equipment consisting of brass, copper or bronze have been produced .
In 1980 the foundry was closed and in 2005 transferred to the Industrial Museum Howaldtsche Metallgießerei e.V.

This seems like a lonely place for the Foundry tag to sit and visit awhile. Not so lonely that it won’t get picked up and moved along.

Not lost or forgotten but very old. Since the 14th century, Kate’s Well sits on holy ground at the foot of Kirk O' Shott's Parish Church and is still in use.
