Tip: Bring a hiking stick with you when you cache. Having a stick can be a a very handy thing to have. Not only does it allow you to follow HeadHardHats favourite tip of "poke it with a stick", a hiking stick as some other uses. For example it can give you stability on rocky, slippery, or uneven terrain. You can use it to reach objects that are out of reach. It can be used as a weapon if you encounter a dangerous animal and have to defend yourself. Finally it can be used as an imprompdu place to rest a camera (think monopod). All great benefits to be sure.
