Current Goal

In June 1910 an 18.000 year old skeleton of the "Münster-Mammut" was found in the clay pit from the sheetmetal and enamel factory of the brothers Seiler near Ahlen (Westphalia, Germany). Prof. Dr. Theodor Wegner (*1880, +1935) led the archeological excavation and tranferred the fossil to the GPI (Geological Palaeological Institution) of the university of Münster, where it was prepared, assembled and put onto display. Upto today, the Münster Mammut is still on display in the GPI in Münster.

The skeleton (consisting of app. 220 bones) has a weight of 500 kg, a lenght of 5.50 m and a height of 3.20 m. With a normal height between 2.80 m and 4.00 m this specimen is complying with a standard mammoth.

The front of the coin shows a mammoth during his life time, while the rear of the coin shows the skeleton including the GPS coordinates where this specimen was found.

So many beautiful coins, started to log them one by one but this collection is so impressive that I will watch them one by one but log them all at once from here...

Met you on my Friday the 13th event (is there a coin for that? ;-), considering there is one for many special dates there will be one for sure somewhere) in Vlissingen the Netherlands...

Long after the event was over we were still there together with Marsso talking about many stuff among which the Corona Virus but also our hobby Geocaching and then you offered to share your coin collection with us..

So honoured that you would show it to us, love to watch them all, some of them never seen before and others that look familiar...

Stay Safe, Stay Healthy and hope to see you again somwhere someday after this Corona Crisis..

Bye for now..
