The photo on this coin was taken in the Silent Park of Taizé in Bourgogne, France and I want the coin to go there to visit the community. http://g.co/maps/n9w53
"A stay at Taizé is an opportunity to seek communion with God in prayer, singing, silence and reflection. It can be possible to rediscover an inner peace, a meaning to life and a new impetus."
from http://www.taize.fr/en_article5336.html
The coin is sent to remind me to find moments of inner peace in life. I need moments like that, maybe you do too? We all find peace in different ways and we all believe in different things. The coin travels to find any places of peace on it's way to Taizé and back! Regardless of religions or beliefs the peaceful places are everywhere. It may be as "simple" as a beautiful cache by the lake, right?
"Nada te turbe" is part of the lyrics in one of the worshiping songs of Taizé. You can listen to it here and look at some photos from Taizé at the same time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go1-BoDD7CI
Below are some quotes from the Taizé homepage about meditative singing and inner silence.
"Singing is one of the most essential elements of worship. Short songs, repeated again and again, give it a meditative character. Using just a few words they express a basic reality of faith, quickly grasped by the mind. As the words are sung over many times, this reality gradually penetrates the whole being."
from http://www.taize.fr/en_article338.html
"How is it possible to reach inner silence? Sometimes we are apparently silent, and yet we have great discussions within, struggling with imaginary partners or with ourselves. Calming our souls requires a kind of simplicity: "I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvellous for me." Silence means recognising that my worries can't do much. Silence means leaving to God what is beyond my reach and capacity. A moment of silence, even very short, is like a holy stop, a sabbatical rest, a truce of worries."
