Die Sea of Clouds-Edition soll den Eindruck vermitteln durch eine dicke Wolkenwand zu schauen. Die Farben auf der Stern-Seite (weiß und gelb) sind perlfarben mit Wirbeln . Zusätzlich zu den wirbligen Farben, ist die Emaille durchscheinend, so dass die kleineren Sterne vage durch das neblige Weiss gesehen werden können. Alle vier Farben auf der Blumen Seite sind Glas-Emaille. Diese Glas-Emaille wird Kratzern, Chemikalien und dem Zahn der Zeit widerstehen. Und gut geplegt, wird das Glas in 1000 Jahren immer noch genau so aussehen. Das gleiche kann nicht für Epoxid-Emaille gesagt werden.

Die Coin wurde benannt nach dem Sea of Clouds einem Mondmeer auf dem südwestlichen Quadranten des Mondes zwischen den Kratern Tycho und Copernicus und neben dem Ocean of Storms.
 

Die Schriften auf der Münze sind Englisch und Tengwar. Tengwar wurde von den Elben in J.R.R. Tolkiens Roman Der Herr der Ringe verwendet.

The Dawning Hope Geocoins were created to remind people that no matter far away hope may seem, it is always with us.

The Sea of Clouds is meant to give the impression of looking through a thick bank of clouds. All of the colors on the star side (white and yellow) are pearl (swirl) enamel. In addition to the swirly colors, the enamel is translucent so that the smaller stars can be vaguely seen through the foggy white. All four of the colors on the flower side are actually glass, meaning that this enamel will resist scratches, chemicals, and the ravages of time. If taken care of, the glass will look the same in 1000 years. The same cannot be said for epoxy enamel.

The Sea of Clouds is a feature on the southwest quadrant of the moon between the Tycho and Copernicus craters and next to the Ocean of Storms.

The writing on the coin includes English and Tengwar, which was the alphabet used by the Elves in Tolkien’s novel, Lord of the Rings.
