Current Goal

This TB is looking for Lonely Caches. What makes a Lonely Cache you might ask? Quite simple really, one that very infrequently gets visited. This can be because it is in a very remote location, or involves a difficult puzzle to solve, or maybe a great challenge. You can check a cache's Lonely Cache status at the website www.lonelycache.com. Enter in a cache name or code and you can see how it ranks. Any cache worth over 25 CPs is pretty lonely, and ones over 100 are remarkably lonely. I will be keeping a tally of the CPs that this TB earns in his travels. Hopefully, you find this TB in a very lonely cache, and are the kind of geocacher that likes these kind of caches. Please take it with you to your next lonely destination. Since the Lonely Cache Project is limited to the Southwest United States (AZ, NM, CO, UT, NV), please keep its travels to these states.

I would ask that this TB NOT be placed in park and grabs, TB hotels etc... It is NOT the goal of the TB to travel to as many places as possible. This means that it will likely lay dormant in lonely caches for much of its life. But when it does move, no doubt it will move to another spectacular location. If you stumble upon this TB in a frequented cache, please make an effort to get it to a lonely cache, or in an area where it is likely to get moved to one.

Thanks!

About This Item

DNBOE lonely cache hunter

Agate key-chain with bear-paw print on it, marked with the cacher DNBOE's handle. DNBOE  is all about hiking caches, those with a terrain rating of 3.5 or higher and a 4-12 mile round-trip hike. Many of these end up being lonely ones, and chances are if the cache is within 200 miles of his winter home in TrC, dnboe has tagged it. When I picked up this agate, I knew I had found a good candidate for a lonely cache hunter. His top "lonely cache" finds are pretty impressive, and very lonely. this TB will be doing very well if it visits even a fraction of these caches.

Current LCP point tally: 625
Lonely Caches visited (and points at time of visit)

  1. MC-B3, GC1H6J0, 221 CPs. Cache unfound for almost 4 years!
  2. MC-B1, GC1NAT2, 80 CPs. Last found 4/30/12.
  3. Retro Petro, GC123WN, 37 CPs. A very remote desert cache near some cool pertroglyphs.
  4. Lone Tree Cache, GCM8WY, 34 CPs. Very remote cache on an isolated but small peak. Cache is nearly 10 years old! Dropped of DNBOE here. A good and lonely spot.
  5. Passage to India, GC3BFBZ, 46 CPs. Another remote desert cache, although not too far from Lone Tree Cache. Also, one of my first lonely TBs to be moved by another cacher. WOOHOO!
  6. Prospectors: Choose Your Own Adventure, GC34RN0, 74 CPs. Cache has gone over 3-1/2 years without a find. Should be good and lonely here.
  7. Eagle's Roost Peak, GC455F6, 133 CPs.
