Davy Jones Locker - Peaceful Sea

Davy Jones's Locker is an idiom for the bottom of the sea: the state of death among drowned sailors. It is used as a euphemism for death at sea (to be sent to Davy Jones's Locker), whereas the name Davy Jones is a nickname for what would be the devil, saint, or god of the seas. The origins of the name are unclear and many theories have been put forth, including incompetent sailors, a pub owner who kidnapped sailors, or that Davy Jones is another name for the devil—as in "Devil Jonah." This nautical superstition was popularized in the 19th century.

More recently The concept of Davy Jones was conflated with the legend of the Flying Dutchman in the Pirates of the Caribbean film series, in which Davy Jones (Pirates of the Caribbean)'s locker is portrayed as a sort of purgatory. The term has also been used repeatedly in the animated TV series SpongeBob SquarePants to represent an actual locker in the bottom of the sea where Davy Jones (of the Monkees fame) keeps his gym socks.

Heute sah ich mir *Boats / Ships - Vikings and Pirates* an. Anhand der von dir eingestellten Bilder gefiel mir optisch "Ahoy Matey Pirate Geocoin Courage - Two Tone LE" mit Abstand am Besten. Es beeindruckt mich immer wieder, mit welcher Hingabe du diese Sammlung erstellst. Da kann ich mich stundenlang drin verlieren. Cattack

Ich hatte heute die Gelegenheit auf der Plattform myGeoDB Coins aus der Sammlung von poseptun zu bewundern. Ich habe mir jeden Geocoin von Boats / Ships – Pirates angesehen und bin begeistert und fasziniert. Sehr schön ist auch die ausführliche Beschreibung zu jeden Coin. Das zeichnet eine besondere Sammlung aus. Ich bedanke mich ganz herzlich und weiterhin viel Freude mit unserem gemeinsamen Hobby. Ich wollte mich nur nach einem DNF-Geocoin erkundigen und bin so über Google auf die riesige Geocoin-Sammlung von poseptun gestoßen. Gemeinsam mit null05 & null06 haben wir aus über tausend Coins drei herausgefunden, die uns besonders gut gefallen haben: TBQQ7B, TB96JVA & TB6P59R. Viel Spaß weiterhin beim Sammeln. 🕵
