O objetivo desta geocoin é ir ao máximo de eventos possível, sempre na companhia dos meus donos, para ser partilhada com todos os geocachers que lá estejam.

Esta moeda pertence à nossa coleção pessoal, desde 28 de julho de 2014. Pertenceu anteriormente ao geocacher Bolachinha.

Esta moeda é uma homenagem à belíssima vila de Ferreira do Alentejo e foi um projecto levado a cabo pelos geocachers TMPinho e CrisN.

Ferreira do Alentejo é uma vila portuguesa pertencente ao Distrito de Beja, região do Alentejo e subregião do Baixo Alentejo, com cerca de 4 900 habitantes. É sede de um município com 648,45 km² de área e 8 354 habitantes (dados de 2006), subdividido em 6 freguesias. O município é limitado a norte pelos municípios de Alcácer do Sal e do Alvito, a leste por Cuba e por Beja, a sul por Aljustrel, a sudoeste por Santiago do Cacém e a oeste por Grândola.

Já no que toca à geocoin, o seu formato e desenho foram inspirados na peculiar Capela do Calvário, localizada na vila alentejana de Ferreira do Alentejo. As pedras dispostas em torno da capela fazem lembrar as que foram lançadas a Cristo no calvário.

A capela é um símbolo da vila, tendo os primeiros desenhos da geocoin sido produzidos a partir do logótipo do município:

Na parte de trás da geocoin está representada a Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição, também localizada em Ferreira do Alentejo. A igreja abriga uma imagem de Nossa Senhora da conceição, que se diz ter acompanhado Vasco da Gama, um dos maiores navegadores portugueses do século XV, na descoberta do caminho marítimo para a Índia.

Numa primeira fase, foram produzidas apenas 100 unidades da geocoin, nas versões Antique Silver e Black Nickel, sendo a última limitada a 20 unidades.

Mais tarde foram ainda produzidas 40 geocoins adicionais, na versão Polished Gold. Ainda assim, as 140 unidades que existem desta geocoin não foram suficientes para que fosse possível ter um icon próprio, uma vez que na altura em que foram produzidas o número mínimo de geocoins necessário para a atribuição de um icon era 250.

This coin is a tribute to the beautiful village of Ferreira do Alentejo and was a project carried out by geocachers TMPinho and CrisN.

Ferreira do Alentejo is a Portuguese village belonging to the District of Beja, Alentejo region and sub-region of Baixo Alentejo, with about 4,900 inhabitants. It is the seat of a municipality with 648,45 km ² of area and 8 354 inhabitants (data of 2006), subdivided in 6 parishes. The municipality is limited to the north by the municipalities of Alcácer do Sal and Alvito, to the east by Cuba and Beja, to the south by Aljustrel, to the southwest by Santiago do Cacém and to the west by Grândola.

As for the geocoin, its format and design were inspired by the peculiar Calvary Chapel (Capela do Calvário), located in the Alentejo village of Ferreira do Alentejo. The stones arranged around the chapel remind those that were thrown to Christ on Calvary.

The chapel is a symbol of the village, having the first designs of the geocoin been produced from the logo of the municipality:

In the back of the geocoin is represented the Church of Our Lady of the Conception, also located in Ferreira do Alentejo. The church houses an image of Our Lady of Conception, which is said to have accompanied Vasco da Gama, one of the greatest Portuguese navigators of the fifteenth century, on the discovery of the maritime route to India.

In a first phase, only 100 units of the geocoin were produced, in the versions Antique Silver and Black Nickel, being the last limited to 20 units.

Later, 40 additional geocoins were produced in the Polished Gold version. Still, the 140 units that exist in this geocoin were not enough to have an icon of its own, since at the time the minimum number of geocoins required for the assignment of an icon was 250.
