About This Item

PDA Geocoin.jpg

This Geocoin is only fitting as TEAM HALL-JTSJT does all of our geocaching with PDA. We do use a Garmin iQue 3600 which is a GPS with PDA.

This Geocoin is another CoinsandPins creation. Here's the original write-up:

It took several months, but finally here and after many revisions and prototypes is the PDA coin. This is the world's first coin with an LED light. The light flashes on and off to give the effect of a working hard drive. It also has a glowing screen. The light can be turned on and off when needed. The image above shows the front and back of the coin in the daylight.

Have you started caching efficiently yet? If not, then you need to go paperless and start using a PDA. Many programs are available for paperless caching and they save lots of time in the field. Ever wondered how some people can get 30, 40, or even 100 caches in a day? The answer is paperless caching. Plan your routes, stop fumbling through papers, down load your finds instead of typing each one separately; less time on the computer at home means more time out caching.

The photo of this coin shows the LED light on. There was no photoshopping to make the light look like it is on; it was really flashing when we took the photo.

This coin has an image of an axe chasing a tree since paper-caching kills our trees. It is the 2nd longest coin we had in continuous development. The 1st longest is still in the works for the last 12 months.

Measures 2" tall and ½" thick. This is a hefty coin with lots of metal in it.
Trackable on Geocaching.com
An icon specific to this coin will show on your Geocaching.com profile page when you log a find.
Activation codes can be retrieved at CoinsCodes.com

There are no guarantees the batteries will function when you receive the coin. While we make every effort to ensure the quality of these coins, sometimes these coins become activated in shipment. If they are activated in shipment, the batteries will be run down by the time you receive them. Spare batteries can be purchased at your local supply store. This coin was difficult to manufacture, and therefore being the first of its kind it may have battery problems.

G'Day My Fellow Geocacher,

I’m DARKSIDEDAN aka Daniel from Canberra, Australia and I have had the pleasure of finding your Trackable Item during my travels as a Geocacher. I have added this trackable to my growing list of discovered items.

I love discovering Geocaches, Trackable items and collecting Pathtags. I hope that you enjoy Geocaching as much as I do. For me geocaching is a way of life. When I am not Geocaching, I am thinking of Geocaching. I would like to say a very big thank you for releasing your trackable for the Geocaching Community.

Here is a little information about me. I have been geocaching since 2015. At the time of finding this cache I have over 5600 finds plus 340 hides. I am the creator of the “Duck Dip” Lab Cache that won 2nd Place for the Australian Capital Territory in the State Vs State - Battle of the Lab Caches at the OzGeoMuster - The Gong Mega 2019 in Wollongong, Australia.

Now let’s talk Pathtags. Currently I have over 4600 Pathtags in my collection plus about 500 Etagz. I currently have two of my own Pathtags (45762 & 46950) with another one in the works. In 2019, I won the right to place a Virtual 2.0 Cache from Geocaching.com, but I have not placed it yet. I am just trying to find somewhere that is worthy of a Virtual Cache.

Here is an Original and One of a Kind, Geocaching Poem that I have written. I hope that everyone who reads it gets some enjoyment out of it.

Geocache Poem by DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

Well, I am back to discovering more of JT3Halls’s fantastic collection. I actually visited the TB Hotels back in August, 2017 when the Solar Eclipse was the happening event. I discovered many actual TBs in their ammo cans, and swapped a few, too. Now to discover more of the personal collection.

Another clever geocoin. I like the concept of “Go Paperless”. When I first started caching, I ran off copies of each cache description. What a waste of paper and trees.
