PaRacers is a geocaching couple in Pennsylvania. Their first geocache placed is Canoe Place, which is commemorated on their first personal geocoin.

PaRacers Personal Geocoin
Located deep in the mountains of northern Pennsylvania, the small town of Port Allegany (also know as Canoe Place) lays along the Allegheny River less than 25 miles from the river's origin. A well traveled connecting trail called portage, between the nearby Susquehanna River and the Allegheny River was used by native indians and pioneers alike. The land here is rich and the mountains and waters teem with wildlife. Early travelers called the area "Canoe Place" because they often built canoes along the banks of the river to continue their journey by water south to the Ohio River or even on to the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico.
Port Allegany has long been known as "The Canoe Place" and many believe that it gets the name from the Seneca Indians. While the Senecas did travel this area along the Allegheny River, it was a white man named Francis King who camped where Portage Creek joins the Allegheny at a spot not far from where this cache is located. King and his party made several dugout canoes to continue their trip down the river and marked it "Canoe Place" on his map. In 1815, Samuel Stanton bought the surrounding land and in 1826 established the village of Keating. In 1838 the name was changed to Port Allegheny and two years later for no reason ever recorded, the spelling was changed to the present day Port Allegany.

Die nächste Kategorie "T5 - Canoeing / Kayaking / SUP" beinhaltete ebenfalls einige Coins, die ich bisher nicht gesehen habe. Diese Kategorie müsste deine Lieblingskategorie sein. Ich habe leider so gar nichts mit Wassersportarten zu tun. Selber habe ich es lediglich bis zum Seepferdchen in meiner Schwimmerkarriere gebracht und habe großen Respekt vor Wassermassen.
Auch dieser Teil deiner Sammlung ist faszinierend anzuschauen. Bryan und die Schlümpfe entlockten mir ein breites Grinsen. Bei den Schlümpfen musste ich dann erst einmal genauer hinsehen, um herauszufinden, warum die Coin in dieser Rubrik gelandet ist. Die anderen Coins überzeugen mit ihrer Eleganz und dem gut getroffenen Thema. Es hat Spaß gemacht, auch diesen Teil der Sammlung intensiv zu betrachten. Cattack

Ich hatte heute die Gelegenheit einen Teil der Coins aus der Sammlung T5 - Canoeing / Kayaking / SUP von poseptun zu bewundern.
Es ist eine beeindruckende Sammlung, die mit viel Leidenschaft und viel Zeit aufgebaut ist. Die Erklärungen um welchen Coin es sich handelt ist sehr informativ.
Ich bedanke mich ganz herzlich und weiterhin viel Freude mit unserem gemeinsamen Hobby.

Ich wollte mich nur nach einem DNF-Geocoin erkundigen und bin so über Google auf die riesige Geocoin-Sammlung von poseptun gestoßen. Gemeinsam mit null05 & null06 haben wir aus über tausend Coins drei herausgefunden, die uns besonders gut gefallen haben: TBQQ7B, TB96JVA & TB6P59R. Viel Spaß weiterhin beim Sammeln. 🕵
