Teil der Coinsammlung der Kanustation Mirow / poseptun
The Sarnia ~ Lambton / Geocaching in Bluewaterland geocoin was issued 2006 by geocachers Apollo and Wallace & Gromit. That's the crest of the City of Sarnia on the obverse, and reverse features the Blue Water Bridge, which connects Sarnia to Michigan.
Sarnia Semper means “Sarnia always” in Latin, and alludes to the city’s namesake (Sarnia was the Roman name for Guernsey, an island in the English Channel). The castle, a three-towered mural crown, represents civic government. It is charged with Guernsey lilies (Nerine sarniensis), the national flower of Guernsey. The use of red and white refers to Canada. The ship, perhaps a depiction of the explorer La Salle’s barque Le Griffon, which arrived in 1679, recalls the historical significance of shipping as well as Sarnia’s current importance as a commercial port and recreational boating centre. The wheat sheaf recognizes the rural area which remains an important part of the city (and perhaps the former Town of Clearwater, which merged with Sarnia in 1991). The wavy line symbolizes the St. Clair River, into which Lake Huron flows at Sarnia. The black and white stripes in the half-circle (reminiscent of a locomotive pilot, or “cowcatcher”) represent the railway line through Sarnia and the St. Clair Railway Tunnel which joins Sarnia with Port Huron, Michigan.

In der Kategorie "Boats / Ships - Historic" entdeckte ich eine Menge Geocoins, die eher nach gesetzlichem Zahlungsmittel aussehen, als nach Geocoins, wie ich sie vorwiegend kenne. Durchaus tolle Exemplare befinden sich darunter und es war mir wieder eine große Freude, diese zu sichten und zu discovern. Cattack

Ich hatte heute die Gelegenheit einen Teil der Coins aus der Sammlung Boats / Ships - Historic von poseptun zu bewundern.
Es ist eine beeindruckende Sammlung, die mit Leidenschaft und viel Zeit aufgebaut ist. Die Erklärungen um welchen Coin es sich handelt ist sehr interessant und zeichnet eine besondere Sammlung aus.
Ich bedanke mich ganz herzlich und weiterhin viel Freude mit unserem gemeinsamen Hobby.

Ich wollte mich nur nach einem DNF-Geocoin erkundigen und bin so über Google auf die riesige Geocoin-Sammlung von poseptun gestoßen. Gemeinsam mit null05 & null06 haben wir aus über tausend Coins drei herausgefunden, die uns besonders gut gefallen haben: TBQQ7B, TB96JVA & TB6P59R. Viel Spaß weiterhin beim Sammeln. 🕵
