About This Item

The Brick

Hello There! My name is ‘Brick’ or so my owners called me before. I am a Magellan GPS 2000. I stopped working a few years ago, so my owners upgraded to a new slim model. I was so depressed that they didn’t take me out anymore to do my favorite hobby – Geocaching, that I have run away from home.

Close again but no cigar. Just two centimeters too big

Tried to fit the brick in this cache. It nearly fit 😟

Visited 1/20/2012 *Cache_or_Check* took it to Bend the Jelly! South Australia, Australia - 10,101.31 miles  Visit Log

I 'made the journey' to the cache a second time, but the cache container was just a fraction too small to fit the brick 😟

Retrieve It from a Cache 1/12/2012 *Cache_or_Check* retrieved it from Line in the Dust South Australia, Australia   Visit Log

About time this brick is going to do a bit more travel around our beautiful state. But where to find a cache big enough to hold it?

I have hung onto The Brick quite long enough, hoping for some serious intercontinental travel and also a box big enough.

At last a trip to Australia to the very first cache I set up with my brother Miray enabled me to swap over the box and send him on his way to explore South Australia.

His time in the UK has not been entirely wasted. The Brick reached stardom at the first production of The Broadstairs Fishwife Mummers Play at its premiere at the Broadstairs Festival in Kent in August 2010. This play was written by me (playing King Neptune) and John Lowe (playing the Fishwife), but starred The Brick as Barry Bonus's Smartphone. Some of the lines of the play used by Barry Bonus as a crib are still there as a sort of T-shirt for proud thespian GPSs.

  • The Brick in Starring Role Final dress rehearsals featuring The Brick, Barry Bonus and Professor Multigrade in the new production of The Broadstairs Fishwife Mummers Play
  • The Brick with fellow travellers The Brick has arrived in South Australia with old hand Joilion, travelling since 2005 and now having a nice rest, having made it home, and Berbulu, yet to start on his great adventure.
  • With GPS yellow peril In South Australia looking at gum trees with the Yellow Peril GPS. Now has the appetite to meet more GPSs.
  • On the way to Line in the Dust At last, travelling again! Elmbeard taking The Brick to Line in the Dust to start travelling again.
Grab It (Not from a Cache) 9/9/2007 elmbeard grabbed it   Visit Log

Grabbed the brick off my nephew a while back and remembered to log it when delving into the foot-high heap of things to do on the blue table where things get put. About to resume the journey - I'll try it in my own popular cache if it fits in the box, otherwise another nearby in beautiful Worcestershire
