Geocache Description:

The cache is not at the above coordinates. The cache is a 35mm film canister and contains a log only. Bring your own pen! When you figure out where it is, you'll be able to park within 50' of the cache and stay relatively clean.

My dad taught me to play chess when I was little, but I never got to play as much as I would have liked. Back in '91, before the internet exploded into what it is today, I found a way to use the internet - to play chess with other people from all over the world. The game had no GUI and required you to type in your moves, only to see the board refresh with really crudy ASCII graphics. Before I played online, I thought I was a pretty good player; once I started playing online, reality hit me pretty hard - I SUCKED. I don't know what nickname I was using before that time, but after a few evenings of getting my butt kicked, I changed my name to something more appropriate - EasyMate. Over the years, it changed to Ezmate, but the meaning is still the same - if you play me at chess, you'll checkmate me with little effort! This cache is done in memory of the world's best board game and my introduction to the internet.

This cache is located in a fairly busy park. Hit this cache early in the morning or after dark to avoid muggles. During the day & early evening, this place is swarming with muggles. Good luck and don't forget to bring your own pen!

Below is a game that is almost over. In fact, black will win in 2 moves. There will be 3 moves total:
  • Black's 1st move (A -> B)
  • White's 1st move (C -> D)
  • Black's 2nd move (E -> F)

Using the numbered grid below, you'll see that each space on the board corresponds to a number. These numbers will help you figure out the cache location ("A" is the digit where white's first move starts; "B" is the digit where white's first move ends; etc).

You'll also need to know that X = C+F

The cache is located at the following location:

N 29 3B.FD0 W 095 1C.XD9

BLACK TO MOVE (mate in 2)
