Geocache Description:

The creek below flows east to the Mississippi past the small town of reno that was named for a soldier who served in the Mexican War Jesse Lee Reno who was a West Virginia native who, as a Major General of United States volunteers, died in the Civil War battle at South Mountain, Maryland, in 1862.

This is one of the most scenic overlooks in the area. Located in the Richard J Dorer memorial hardwood state forest The best way to hike to the cache is to follow the snowmobile /horse trail from the lower reno horse campground [Crooked creek Trailhead} just follow the trail to the southwest, at the top follow the ridge south to the end. About a 1.3 miles one way from car to cache. Keep children in hand when nearing the cache beware of the cliff The cache itself is not in a dangerous area. Climb to the top of the rock if you dare. You also might want to check out the [cave] south east down the ridge about a 3rd of the way down Other points of interest in the area are Lake Reno overlook which is just to the north east [Quarry Parking} follow the road to the quarry then up the trail to the south follow the quarry rim to a short 4th class climb to the top What a view . Rattlesnake point also a nice view of the crooked creek valley Where we saw a large rattler in this 10 foot high strange circular structure made from piled up limestone rocks this is about a mile hike up the bluff via snowmobile trail [Raddler Road]from Klondike road parking spot [Raddler/Lair Parking] its southwest of the Lair cache I have added all the trails and POI's in the area to OPENSTREET MAPS if your device supports them .Also many websites use them https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=15/43.6102/-91.2945
