GRAAFF-REINET IS UNIQUELY SURROUNDED by the Karoo Nature Reserve
which is a mecca for hikers, photographers and students of flora
and fauna. Included in this reserve is the famous and awe-inspiring
Valley of Desolation as well as the peak Uitkyk, from which
paragliding enthusiasts from all over the world come to share the
thermals of the vast Karoo skies with the resident Black Eagles.
The valley of desolation is on the Murraysburg/Richmond road.
Turn into the nature reserve at S 32 13.192, E 24 30.381. The cache
is hidden at the Ribbokberg picnic spot on your way to the Janpe’s
60 and valley of desolation caches.

Small note on cache maintenance: Please take note
that although the owner of this cache stays some distance from the
cache, special arrangements have been made to maintain the cache,
should it be necessary. Fellow cachers, friends and family in the
vicinity will do the honours. Cache placements in South Africa are
minimal related to the number of cachers playing the treasure hunt
game especially in the Garden Route area. We will be placing at
least 30 caches during this December 2006 holiday season – so watch
