Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS NOT LOCATED AT THE POSTED COORDINATES. SOLVE THE MYSTERY TO RESCUE THE REMAINS OF THE CREW.

Ten members of the Starship beamed down to the surface to investigate the new alien world. However, everything turned ghastly an hour into the mission. Here is their final transmission right after they stopped at a spring to rest:

“Help! There are only six members left. It might be now late. It's a wonder we're still alive. How could we have fallen so easily for the bait? It's seven against seven, and everyone is losing hope. The cancerous beast, thought benign, will conquer the universe. The end is now. Save us. According to the last reading from party's biotech implanted locating becons, they were able to flee some distance before everything went dead. The only other evidence beside the message was this picture taken by crewman #78. Furthermore, knowing crewman #78's background in 26th century cryptology, he must have embedded some clues somewhere so his team could be rescued. But where?

After consulting with the ship's navigations officer, a careful understanding of the planet's terrain as well as some good orienteering skills and tools will be needed in the field to find what is left of the landing party's remains. There are several unknown factors that can only be discovered in the field. Take one item, no trade required. Once the booty is gone, this becomes a log-only adventure. Good luck.
