Geocache Description:

Located on the beautiful University of Minnesota campus. Terrain park-like and difficulty easy. Altitude is uniform on the lakebed plains of glacial Lake Agassiz (imagine a completely planar surface). Muggles abound so discretion is imperative. Perfect for young geocachers! Bring your picnic lunch and enjoy the well kept grounds.

Permits are required to park on campus on weekdays during the academic term but generally only enforced from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are few parking restrictions during weekends and breaks in the academic year (e.g., summer). Free visitor permits are available at the Business Affairs Office, 121 Selvig Hall. A short-term parking pull-out is available during the snow-free months at 47.80050N, 96.61007W – it is in sight of the cache and does not require a permit. The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) is a public, baccalaureate, coeducational institution and a coordinate campus of the University of Minnesota. With its roots in the Northwest School of Agriculture dating back to 1905, today's UMC is a four-year, public university with about 1,200 full-time students and 1000 part-time students. UMC proudly carries on a tradition of a century of educational service to Northwestern Minnesota. Since its establishment as an institution of higher learning in 1965 and its transition to offering baccalaureate degree programs in 1993, UMC has proven to be an adaptive pioneer with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. The campus has continued on a course of continual change and improvement, growing stronger and providing students with more quality opportunities each year. UMC is internationally known as the original Laptop University. A notebook computer has been provided to every full-time student and faculty member since 1993. NOTE! Winter visitors may need their boots - the cache is accessible but a good 50 feet from the nearest street or sidewalk where snow is removed.
