How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This cache if for the true outdoorsman. The trek to this cache will take you through the heart of the San Felasco State Park. This cache is designed to reward the finder so please place a nice reward in the cache for the next finder.

This cache is a well stocked ammo can. There are two unregistered geocoins for the first finder. There are two other unregistered geocoins for the second and third finder. The geocoins are in marked bags, so do not make exchanges. You will have to email me for the activation codes as I have already obtained them. If you embark on this endeavor as a family please do not take multiple geocoin rewards even if you have multiple cachers. The idea is to reward cachers to go after this one.

You will need to enter San Felasco from the north entrance off of Hwy 441 in Alachua. There is a fee to enter the park. You can hike, bike or ride a horse. If you hike, I recommend following the horse trails. You will need to find your way to the green diamond horse trail in order to make it to the cache location. The cache is just off the trail. Be sure to take water. The time to the cache and back to the entrance is approximately 4 hours for hikers.

Hikers and horse riders - follow the horse trails all the way.
Bicyclists - ride to the point nearest Turkey Creek and then hike from there.

I have ridden my horses on nearly every inch of the trails in San Felasco and the scenery is gorgeous. Hope you enjoy this area as much as I do.

Hopefully this cache will inspire others to place similar caches for those of us who just do not get inspired by urban micros.
