Geocache Description:

November 25, 2006 -

Having just graduated from Dr. Drake’s training, we set out on our own research adventure. Our hypothesis was that there is a local subspecies of the Earth Dragon that has evolved, in isolation, for the past several centuries. This subspecies has never been observed...or no one has lived to tell the tale! But there is some evidence that it now lives in the area around Salem Eagleton Glen Park. Indeed, we had some clue as to where the lair may be.

We set out to test our hypothesis. Upon arrival, we found what appeared to be a garden. There was an empty cup of tea there. At the bottom of the small cup were letters drawn in dragon script. The garden was marked and many others had logged their visits there. We wondered if they had taken note of the dragon script markings...for many people are not aware of dragon script and may simply overlook it. To the trained eye, these markings are clearly directions to the dragon’s lair...which is near.

We decoded the dragon script using a key that had been provided in our handbook. After converting from dragon script, we applied a simple system, used to translate letters to numbers. That system, of course is as thus – A=0.....H=7. Once translated, we completed our clue:

N 40º 48.998’
W 080º 49._ _ _’

This finding led us to the dragon’s lair. Near the lair, we saw tell-tale signs. There was water to drink, stones for making fire breath, and ferns for bedding. It was no easy journey, but we finally found the nest...and babies! Just then, we heard a loud roar and felt the steamy air on our necks. We fled the area quickly, for mother dragons are notoriously fierce when guarding babies and booty.

Treasure is there for those who dare to find the lair...but beware!
