Geocache Description:

Ho Ho Ho. You've spent 3 days enjoying Christmas with your family...now it's time to come out and celebrate Christmas week with your GC friends.

THURSDAY -- December 28 (no school tomorrow! (yeah!)

Queensites get more business done 'at the diner' after the meeting, than at the meeting itself. An important question asked at any meeting (school board, scout leaders, political parties, choir rehersal) is "Are we going dinering tonight?" and the answer is usually 'yes!' So why not geocachers?

One of the more popular diners in western Queens is the MARK TWAIN DINER in Jackson Heights. The "Twain" is conveniently located on Northern Blvd and 73rd Street.

This was the location of my Dinering event last year that was the same night as another event in Westchester. Hopefully this time there won't be a conflict.

By Car: Take the BQE to Northern Blvd and go east about 5 blocks....plenty of parking in the rear.

By Public Transportation:

Take the G, R or V trains to Northern Blvd and then take the Q66 bus towards Flushing or
Take the #7 train to 74th Street and then take the Q47 bus or you can walk north about 4 long blocks.

The Q66 (Northern Blvd) and the Q47 (from Roosevelt Ave/74th Street subway stop) buses stop in front.

So tonight we will "diner" and enjoy the holiday cheer. We will be there around 7:30 ...in the back.

For those GC's who have never been to an event cache, don't expect a big hoopla. It's lots of people who don't really know each other (although you do know their names)sitting at scattered tables in a restaurant discussing their favorite passion. Although I've done diner meetings of up to 20 people or so, one table really is not conducive to good GC conversation. Get up and walk around. Visit with each freely. The restaurant is happy for the business but not tying up 7 or 8 tables for great amounts of time. You should order something (and don't forget to tip.) We usually sit around for 2-3 hours. Some folks come late, others early. Some leave early, some stay all night. Some cache before coming, others cache after going. There will be discussions about great finds and about tricky finds. There are always some geocoins and travel bugs to move along or to be discovered. Some folks bring their geocoin collections and people "discover" them by writing down the identification numbers.

And yes, you do get a 'find' for attending, but you have to be there and then you report in when you get home.
