This is one of our favorite hikes close to Tucson. The cache is just off the AZ trail with nice views of the valley containing the Bellota (acorn) Ranch, the Rincons and the Galiuros in the distance. The trail is good, but steep. I was surprised to find at the top two cute ladies who were quite a bit more ancient than us.
The shortest approach is from the Molino Basin parking lot. If you’re really inspired, hike from the Bellota (A-7) Ranch off the Reddington and ranch roads. This beautiful property was purchased a few years ago by Pima Co. with funds from the Open Space Bond, approved by citizens to conserve land in the county.
