Small but interesting mine on strange place.
This is a strange place. Wired. Bound somehow to my childhood. We used to go here as a kids. I cannot remember who first told me about this place, but as a kid I like to go here.
I try to search over old documents which I had at home and find why such a small mine is here. Didn't find anything relevant. It seems it isn't regular mine just a short tunnel built for research reasons in the times when they cannot drill as they do research now.
Seems that it isn't very old. If you look closer you can see there are holes from drilling and therefore tunnel been made by using explosives. Strange is, that there isn't any marks from service road. There is one down hill, but it seems a bit far. They need some machines to produce highly compressed air because mining drilling machines operates on it.
A lot of rumors been told about this place. During World War 2nd here been front line. German troops been backing up heading to small village called Repiste which is about few kilometers as a crow fly. I remember when I've been here in the past there been marks from graves. Now they cannot be seen because they simply gone and they're hidden under falen leafs and eroded ground. I remember wooden crosses with German helmets on them. Now I am not able to point spot where graves been.
Last time when I've been there I've approach site by different path as you will when you'll follow instructions and search for cache I found bone which looks like human one. It looks very old. Could be that animals dug out dead bodies and carry them all over the place. I'm not perfect in anatomy and could be that bones are from some animals and not from human.
People been talking a stories about this place. During War times and Slovak state they been sending Slovakian mans for work for Germans. Some of them didn't want to go and according to rumors some of them been hidden here during war.
Believe in what you want. This is a nice place for short hike. See waypoints and follow them. When you approach cache site you can see there are names carved on the trees. Some of them are pretty fresh. So, I decide to put cache little bit off side. There is pretty deep valley and foliage is pretty dense so GPS readings will not be very accurate. Och, and at last please been aware of animals. I saw deer footprints there. I'm almost sure there are wild pigs living there. I didn't seen any bears there. Respect animals and don't walk silent talk and make noise so they have opportunity to run away. And remember animals will not attack you till they are not surprised, provoked or playing in the Hollywood movies.
