Geocache Description:

This cache was placed as part of the NoVAGO Fall Gathering.

The first stage will be in place in time for the Event October 1st. I am releasing this a few days early to give the eager "Beavers" a chance to read up on a couple of similar hides I hope to someday be able to hunt myself.

As everyone probably knows, there is a group of local cachers who have been working diligently to establish a Northern Virginia GeoCaching Organization. The result of these efforts is "NoVAGO".

The group is now hard at work to officially get NoVAGO off the ground and hopes to have a framework established in the near future.

As this is the first large scale NoVAGO event, I was thinking (scary thought isn't it?), since we have all gathered together at this awesome Algonkian Park shelter, it only fitting that a cache be placed at this historic location.

I have tried to capture the essence of the NoVAGO caching experience in this cache. As with many great caches in the Northern Virginia area, this cache was designed to provide a challenge.

This is a two stage cache. The first stage will be found somewhere in/on/under/adjacent to/??? the structure located at the given coordinates. The second stage will be derived based on information obtained in the first stage.

I am not sure what else there is to say, except that no matter how tempting it may be, you will not need to dismantle the shelter to find the first stage. As IndyMagicMan said so very well in the Shelter III cache description,

No need to dismantle anything. Searching may involve; flashlight, ladder, work gloves, latex gloves, filter mask, mirror, black light, microscope, telescope, tweezers, magnet, mist net, wire, dog, Benadryl, Cortisone, Groucho glasses, slightly larger glasses, little brown pointy shoes with fuzzy balls, tachyon scan, Detect Magic spell, psychic photography, séance to commune with Houdini, and the old ‘butter and shaved squirrel’ trick we all know. Please cache responsibly. But really, how bad can this be? It’s just a shelter.

I am honored to be able to place this cache in conjunction with the first NoVAGO major event. I have really enjoyed my caching experiences in the NoVAGO area and have made many very good friends along the way. I would like to dedicate this cache to all of them and I wish all the best in future NoVAGO hides and hunts and hope that we can all meet out there on the trails as we follow our obsession and continue to search out tupperware in the woods.
