Geocache Description:

The ruins of St James' Church is located in the Stonor Valley, to the north of the A4130 between Henley and Nettlebed. Bix was a Saxon settlement situated around the ruined church at Bix Bottom. You are looking for a 35mm film canister with logbook and pencil.

The church's ruins were used for filming the classic Horror Movie 'Blood on Satans Claw'(also known as 'Satans Skin') by Chilton Films in 1971
It certainly has an eerie atmosphere about it (my GPS's accuracy did strange things while trying to get a reading!)

The Oxfordshire Way is nearby - you can look up and download the walks.
Car parking is near the cache. Not advisable for wheelchairs, can be cycled to.

Bix Bottom is managed as a nature reserve by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust. The reserve is called 'Warburg.' and is a little way up the road and can be visited.

I must state that the main purpose of this cache is for people to enjoy this beautiful little known spot in the Stonor valley and its placing is not intended to be derogatory to the church.

Hope you like this one!

This cache location featured towards the end of A History of Horror with Mark Gatiss
