Geocache Description:

Bluff overlooking the Carbon River and the Foothills Trail

The Foothills Trail (visit link) ) is becoming an increasingly popular Pierce County destination for families, cyclists, joggers, walkers, and roller blade enthusiasts (have I left anyone out?). The trail currently connects Puyallup, McMillin, Orting, and South Prairie (with connections to Buckley, Enumclaw, Wilkeson, and Carbanado planned in the near future). The section of the trail between Orting and South Prairie is noteworthy for it's views of the Carbon River with salmon fisherman lining its banks and bald eagles in the trees at certain times of the year. Another interesting spot along this section of trail is a farm that has bison and emu's in a field adjacent to the trail. The cache is hidden on a bluff above the Carbon River and the Foothills Trail. It is really not accessible via the Foothills Trail but rather by the road (South Pioneer Way) that runs above it. There is a small "turn out" where you can park at these coordinates: N 47 06.619 and W 122 08.515.

This cache originally contained "gear" for school (pens, pencils, etc.) hence the "G" in the title, and - originally - it also contained a travel bug - the "B" in the title. We last checked the cache on 5/05/08 and found it filled with many diverse "treasures" including a travel bug or two. At that visit, we added coins from various countries that we have visited (Canada, Mexico, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Costa Rica, and Aruba).

The trading rules for this cache are as follows:
- if you take any of the "school gear" (i.e. pen, pencil, eraser, etc.), please leave something that a student might find useful (a graphing calculator, slide rule, etc. - just kidding).
- if you take a travel bug, please leave a travel bug or geocoin in its place ( The "How To Guide for Travel Bugs": (visit link) )
- if you take a foreign coin, please try to leave another foreign coin in its place

One last request - we feel that this is a beautiful spot, but sometimes there is some litter in the ditch on either side of the road near where you park. If you see any litter when you visit our cache, please pick up one piece and take it with you to be deposited in the garbage can of your choice.
