Geocache Description:

Looks like I am not the only one naming a cache "Birds Of A Feather", but it is too late - already placed the cache :)

The final cache is NOT at the above co-ordinates

Due to my great love of birds, I thought this would make a great spot for a cache.. To my dismay I found out that this bird sanctuary hardly ever gets visitors as not many people know of this place.. I decided to explain to the “caretaker” of the place what Geocaching was as a way to attract more people to the area, and he practically begged me to do a cache here to attract more visitors.

The sanctuary is 4.5 Hectares in size, right in the heart of Sandton, yet everybody drives past it daily without even knowing it exists. I was informed that the best time to see the bird life is between 6am and 9am and then again between 4pm and 6pm – the sanctuary is open 7 days a week from 6am to 6pm.

Getting there...

When you get to the location, you will notice a Petrol Garage, the entrance is just behind the garage.. you can drive into the sanctuary and park on the grass near the tiny office or at the garage (much easier). The caretaker asked if you could please sign the guest book (mention you are there for GeoCaching if you want – they do know about it – but of course they DO NOT know where the cache or clues are so use stealth still)
NOTE: If gate is locked - get key from petrol garage

If you do like birds take along a pair of binoculars and you may see some interesting wildlife.
