Geocache Description:

hidden chest with olivines in boulder area close to the sea (nice view onto the waves)

============================================================
IMPORTANT UPDATE (2008-08-24): Team Monkie installed a new box , a thousand thanks to them! Please, be careful when retrieving it and putting it back again. If you (or your kids ) have collected too many olivines somewhere else on the island, it would be nice to leave some here.

IMPORTANT UPDATE (2007-05-11): Since the old (big) box was broken, Sternenkriegerin and geo_tom were so kind to put a new (regular) one in place. Thank you! (The old box is no longer in place!)

Bennieboys from the Netherlands removed the old box and placed (most of) its content into the new box. They also supplied us with slightly updated coordinates (about 6m closer to the sea than the original ones) - we have already altered them in this description. Thanks a lot for that!

Since the new box is (much) smaller than the original one, there are currently only a few olivines in the cache. It would, therefore, be nice if cachers who have visited other parts of Lanzarote first and have collected (too) many olivines could place some in this cache from time to time.

Thanks for all the help, and also to the local maintainer, m*sh, who checked the location recently and will be able to check the cache site again in summer, if needed!

ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:

This cache has been placed because our children Marlene & Bernhard found so many olivines during our Lanzarote "geocaching holiday" that we had to leave most of them here. Please take some & enjoy!

A good parking spot can be found at

N 28° 55.266'
W 013° 50.223'.

There is no real path from parking to the cache site but it is only about 60m so it should be easily family-acessible. We chose the location because it is a rather quiet spot in the south of Lanzarote and the waves are quite impressive (look out for your children).

Further notes:

We found most of the olivines close to the parking spot of the "El Jameo" cache. A BIG thanks to ela & m*sh for this and their other caches and all their supporting work for geocaching in Lanzarote!

Our idea is that every visitor is encouraged to take some stones. ela & m*sh generously offered to stack it again with olivines should the box become empty (it is quite big so this should not happen too soon). Please leave a note in this case.

Thankfully ela & m*sh (THANKS - this is really kind of you) have volunteered to look after the cache since we do not know when we will be on Lanzarote the next time.
