Bogle Hole can be accessed by a short steep ascent from Caw Gap where there is limited free parking or via Winshields Crags with parking at Steel Rigg car park under 2 miles walk along the Wall.
Bogle Hole - ‘the goblin’s hollow’ - the name betraying local superstitions about the haunt of evil little folk.
From above the views are spectacular for such a short climb and if you follow the low path from Caw Gap around to Bogle Hole there is further evidence of quarrying to be found. Caw Gap, where it is possible to get through the crags would probably have been a route from north to south in the times before the Wall was built.
